Free collection of bulk waste in Subang Jaya for CNY

23 January 2024

SUBANG Jaya residents planning to spring clean ahead of Chinese New Year can have their old furniture and other bulk waste disposed of for free.

In the past, residents had to cart it all to a central roll-on roll-off bin in the neighbourhood but this time around, the bulk waste will be collected at their doorstep.

KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd Subang Jaya branch acting head Mohd Ridhuan Tahir said the company would have dedicated lorries to collect the waste.

“No charges are imposed. Subang Jaya residents just need to call 03-8081 4437 or WhatsApp 011-3558 4437 from Jan 22 to 31 to make an appointment.

“Just give your name and address. Have your bulk waste like beds, tables, chairs, sofas, cupboards and mattresses neatly arranged outside your house for our workers to pick up.

“The collection will be carried out at landed properties for 13 days from Jan 29 to Feb 9,” he said.

Ridhuan added that the aim of the free service was to help residents save money and also to prevent illegal dumping that would create an eyesore in neighbourhoods.

SS14 Rukun Tetangga (RT) sector chairman Tan Eng Tor, 66, urged all residents to use this service instead of dumping their unwanted items along roads.

SS15/6A RT Hexagon sector chairman R. Siva, 75, suggested that KDEB Waste Management find ways to repair or upholster the old furniture to give to welfare homes.

Subang Jaya City Council health environment officer Norzahirawaty Sihat said the free collection would be convenient for the people.

“I often see bulk waste dumped along roads, at corners or on vacant land.

“The council will work with KDEB to monitor the collection of the bulk waste,” she said.
